Meet Gerad Xavier Griffith!

I grew up in a house divided, I guess you could say. My mother was Catholic, and my father was a Baptist. I lived with my mother, so the biggest religious influence I had was a catholic one. I went to mass every Sunday and I went to the school on Wednesday nights. It wasn’t until my mother passed away that I moved home to Ashland to live with my dad. When I moved back in, I didn’t go to church and there wasn’t really a religious influence. This was when I was starting high school and I started down a very sinful path. I found myself with some my best friends to this date that are now also saved, but at the time we weren’t. My older brother got me to try drugs and we also started to experiment with alcohol.
Around spring break of my sophomore year of high school, my friend Willie ended up getting saved. At the same time, my oldest brother asked to start going to a youth group. So I found myself around some people that were a good Christian influence. Their walks with Christ started to impact me tremendously. I would see the way they talk and what they watched or listened to and that started to bring to light many of the sins that I had in my life. About a month and half after Willie got saved, the youth pastor at the time invited me to go to church camp. We went and we were doing community work most of the week and during the morning and evening the pastor that the church camp had brought would preach the gospel to us. I found myself getting convicted of the things that I would watch and listen to, the way I talked, and even some the people I found myself hanging out with. God miraculously saved me at this camp! I didn’t deserve nothing God’s judgement, but He gave His grace to me.
I’ve thought alot about what I want to do in the future, but none of that matters unless it is the will of God. I feel that God has called me to preach. So, I plan on going to seminary down the road to get a Masters of Divinity. I want to become a pastor. I’ve always had a desire to make know the gospel, but to also raise up and teach believers to know the gospel of Jesus Christ deeper and better. If there is one thing that I love is, when I study the bible and God teaches me through His word and through resources that I end up sharing with someone that needed to hear what God had shown me. Essentially, you could say that my plan for the future is to serve Christ to the upmost of my ability and only by the grace that He provides.
